The Brotherhood Museum
tries to show the Passion lived and revived during the last five centuries of Ponferrada.

The first documented news of the celebration of the Holy Week in the streets of Ponferrada dates back to the end of the 15th century, and connected to two brotherhoods which nowadays don't exist, one "de Palmeros" and the other "de la Vera Cruz", to which we owe the origins of the temple.

And a year later the venerable Third Order of Saint Francis.

All this evolution has handed down to Ponferrada an important artistic and cultural heritage that can be visited in a part of this Brotherhoods Museum.

The brotherhood of Jesus of Nazareth, the brotherhood of Jesus of Nazareth of the Silence and the Brotherhood of the Apostle Saint James in the city, and in the municipal district of Los Barrios the Brotherhood of the Cross (founded in 1522) revive each spring the Passion in Ponferrada and stays alive the whole year thanks to the Brotherhoods Museum.
